Practical Guides for Local Businesses.
Short, specific guides on the things local business owners ask us about most.
Coming Soon
We are writing these now. First up: what actually belongs on a Google Business Profile, how to ask for reviews without being annoying, and what to automate first when you have never automated anything.
Practical Guides, Not Content Marketing
There is an enormous amount written about local marketing and almost none of it is written for someone who is also doing the actual work. Most of it assumes a marketing budget, a team and time to test things.
These guides are for the owner who has forty minutes on a Sunday and wants to fix one specific thing properly. Each one covers a single problem, explains why it matters commercially, and gives you the steps to do it yourself.
We are aware that publishing instructions for work we are paid to do looks strange. In practice, owners who understand this work make better clients and better decisions, and the ones who would rather do it themselves were never going to hire anyone anyway.

Why Most Advice You Find Will Not Work Here
Most local marketing advice online is written for cities, and the Hudson Valley does not behave like a city.
Advice built around dense urban markets assumes high search volume, many competitors and customers who never travel far. Here, a service area can span several towns, volume for any single phrase is modest, and the competitor set changes completely from one town to the next.
Follow city advice and you will chase high-volume phrases you cannot win, ignore the specific ones you could own, and build location pages for places nobody searches. It is not that the advice is wrong. It is aimed at a different market.

What We Are Writing First
- Google Business Profile – what actually belongs in every field, and what is ignored
- Asking for reviews without being annoying, and when to ask
- What to automate first if you have never automated anything
- Writing a service page that can rank, with a structure you can copy
- Quoting faster – building estimate templates that hold their margin
- Choosing screens for digital signage without overspending
If there is something you would find more useful than these, tell us and we will likely write that first.
Why We Publish This Rather Than Gate It
Most agencies put material like this behind an email form. We have chosen not to, for reasons that are practical rather than principled.
Gated content attracts the wrong enquiries
A form fill is not interest, it is curiosity with a cost of zero. It produces a list of people who wanted a PDF, most of whom will never become clients, and it means the useful material never reaches the owners who would act on it.
Informed clients are better clients
The work goes better when the owner understands what is being done and why. They ask sharper questions, spot when something is off, and make faster decisions because they are not being asked to trust a black box. That is worth more to us than a longer mailing list.
Some of this you should do yourself
Not everything needs an agency. Claiming and completing a Google Business Profile is genuinely something most owners can do in an afternoon, and paying someone a monthly fee for it is poor value. We would rather tell you that and be trusted on the things that do need doing properly.
What is actually worth paying for
The work that is ongoing, technical or time-consuming: content that has to be produced consistently, technical SEO, automation that connects systems, and anything requiring a person to be available when you are not. That is where an outside team earns its cost.
If you read a guide, do the work yourself and never contact us, that is a perfectly good outcome. If you read it and decide you would rather it was handled, you will know what you are buying.
