Local Citations & Business Listings Distribution

Build a More Consistent Business Presence Across the Web.

Search engines, directories, mapping platforms and potential customers all rely on the business details they can find about you. When those details agree with each other, you are easier to discover and easier to trust.

What a Business Citation Actually Is

A citation is your business information published somewhere other than your own website: a directory, a mapping platform, an app, or a data service that feeds other platforms. Each one is another place a customer, or a system reading on their behalf, can find you.

That information usually includes:

  • Business name
  • Address, or eligible service-area information
  • Phone number
  • Website
  • Business category
  • Hours of operation
  • Services offered

Consistency is the part that matters. If three directories carry three different phone numbers, or an old suite number lingers on half of them, there is no single version of your business for a platform to rely on, and a customer may call a number that no longer reaches you. The work is unglamorous and cumulative: get the details right, get them agreeing with each other, and keep them that way.

Two Different Ways Your Information Travels

These are two different fulfilment mechanisms, not two names for the same task. They can be used together or separately.

Individual Directory Citations

Your business information is reviewed and submitted to selected directories one at a time. Each submission goes to a specific platform, chosen because it is relevant to your business and your area.

Business Data Distribution

Your business information is supplied through participating data aggregators or distribution networks. Those networks may in turn share it with other directories, applications and platforms that draw on them.

Discuss My Business Listings

Every citation package includes

  • Review of your core business information
  • Evaluation of existing listing consistency
  • Selection of appropriate directories
  • Submission of your business information
  • A completion report
  • Available listing credentials, where participating platforms supply them

Submission is not the same as publication. Directories apply their own review, eligibility and timing rules, so we cannot promise that every submission will be accepted, published or indexed, or that the work will complete within a fixed number of days.

Active Sync

$70

12-month coverage · Plus applicable taxes.

Active Sync is intended to support ongoing synchronisation of your core business information across participating listings for the duration of the coverage period. Where a supported integration exists, updated details can be pushed out rather than corrected one platform at a time.

What it is intended to help with:

  • More consistent business information across participating listings
  • Reduced risk of outdated details lingering after a change
  • Ongoing distribution or synchronisation through supported integrations
  • Support for keeping business information maintained over time

Coverage lasts 12 months. The supplier describes this as one payment for a 12-month term, with no automatic renewal. Synchronisation is not represented as continuing after the term ends.

Data Axle

$30

12-month coverage · Plus applicable taxes.

Data Axle is a business-data distribution provider. Information supplied through it may be used by participating directories, applications and other business-discovery systems that draw on that data.

Keeping those details accurate and consistent may support discovery across connected services, including some voice-search ecosystems. We cannot guarantee inclusion in any particular platform or voice assistant, because each one applies its own sourcing and eligibility rules.

Coverage lasts 12 months, as one payment with no automatic renewal.

Neustar

$30

12-month coverage · Plus applicable taxes.

Neustar supports business-location data distribution through participating location-data services and navigation-related networks.

Location-based discovery depends heavily on the accuracy of the underlying record: the right address or service area, the right category, the right phone number. Where those are wrong, a customer can be routed to the wrong place. We cannot guarantee visibility in any specific vehicle navigation system, map provider or GPS application.

Coverage lasts 12 months, as one payment with no automatic renewal.

YP Network

$30

12-month coverage · Plus applicable taxes.

YP Network provides distribution through participating local business directory networks.

Accurate, matching details across those directories help maintain one consistent business identity rather than several competing versions of it. Publication in every participating directory is not guaranteed, as each applies its own acceptance rules.

Coverage lasts 12 months, as one payment with no automatic renewal.

Pricing and Taxes

Citation packages are priced per quantity, shown before tax. The four distribution services are each priced for a 12-month term, shown before tax.

Listed prices exclude applicable taxes. Payment terms and any permitted processing fees will be confirmed before service.

What These Services Do and Do Not Cover

We would rather set expectations properly than win the work and disappoint you.

Coverage runs 12 months. The four distribution services are sold as one payment covering a 12-month term, without automatic renewal. Distribution or synchronisation is not represented as permanent, and should not be assumed to continue after the term ends.

Submission is not publication. Supplier submission and processing timelines are not the same as a directory publishing your listing, or a search engine indexing it. Timelines vary by platform and are outside our control.

No guaranteed AI or voice placement. Purchasing these services does not guarantee that your business will appear in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Siri, Alexa, Google AI-generated answers or vehicle navigation systems. Those platforms draw on multiple data sources and apply their own eligibility and ranking systems.

Service-area businesses. Some directories and distribution networks require a real business address for verification. Address privacy, public display and eligibility have to be reviewed platform by platform, and universal address suppression cannot be promised.

Duplicate listings. Duplicate listing cleanup is available upon review and quoted separately.

Availability. Service availability and fulfillment requirements are confirmed during consultation.

Common Questions

It is your business information published on a third-party directory or platform rather than your own website. Typically the name, address or service area, phone number, website, category and hours. Each citation is another place your business can be found and cross-checked.

A citation is an individual submission to one directory. A data aggregator is a distribution network: you supply your information once, and participating directories, applications and platforms may draw on it. One is direct and specific, the other is indirect and broader.

Consistent, accurate listings may support local search visibility and the accuracy of the business data that platforms hold about you. No one can guarantee a ranking improvement, including us. Citations are one input among many, and proximity to the searcher is a factor no agency controls.

It varies by platform. Submitting your information is not the same as a directory publishing it or a search engine indexing it. Some platforms are quick, others review submissions on their own schedule, and we cannot commit to a fixed number of days.

Distribution may help make accurate data about your business available to systems that use these sources, but it does not guarantee inclusion or recommendation. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Siri, Alexa and Google AI answers each decide independently what to draw on and what to show.

Sometimes, but not universally. Several directories and distribution networks require a real address for verification even when they do not display it publicly, and the rules differ from one platform to the next. We review the requirements for each platform rather than promising blanket address suppression.

Distribution or synchronisation coverage may end unless a new term is purchased. Listings that were already published may well persist on their own, but they would no longer be kept in sync through the service, and future changes would not be pushed out.

Duplicate cleanup is evaluated and quoted separately. How much work it takes depends on how many duplicates exist, which platforms they sit on, and what each platform requires to merge or remove them.
